Reception Gallery

Reception Gallery was an alternative project space located inside of the marketing director’s office at a prominent port-production agency in Chicago’s River North area. The space offered an opportunity for local and emerging fine artists to “communicate” with prominent executives from Chicago’s advertising agencies.

Dear Hans,

The Crowley Community Gallery at the South Bend Museum of Art hosted an exhibition called Dear Hans, in late 2020 organized by Curator of Education, Casey Smallwood.

Through artist interviews, works of art, and a weekly podcast, the show demonstrates the strength, power and successes of regional women artists.  As a working artist, Regina M. Williams expresses the experiences of women through her art, in an attempt to promote understanding, diversity, and a respect for cultural differences.  She asks women and women-identifying artists to share their personal narratives about the often complex and unpredictable journey of being a woman. Weekly, Williams will review emailed submissions, editing together the stories in an episodic series of spoken words. The resulting podcast will be posted on Saturday mornings for the duration of the exhibition. Viewers will have the opportunity to interact within each of these artists’ practices through various activities inspired by or created by the artist, accessible through a virtual tour space or by reading the QR codes in the gallery.
